Intercol is our Intercollegiate traveling team. Through Intercol, IAA members travel to 9 Model UN conferences around the country. This provides the opportunity to meet people from all over the world, both those who go to Penn and those who do not. It is one of the best ways of getting to know members of the IAA. Even if you have no prior Model UN experience, I encourage you to compete. Having started in the IAA myself with no knowledge of Model UN, I can promise you that it is not a barrier.
Last year, Intercol had one of its most successful years. Winning 7 delegation awards at 9 conferences around the country, the members of the IAA showed their passion for competitive Model UN. In the coming year, we are looking to once again exceed what we have done in the past. The hallmark of the Penn team has been the ability to excel in committee while also ensuring that the team has as much fun as possible. I have no doubt that we will be able to continue this tradition.
If you are interested in participating in Intercol, please email a member of the Intercol Board to learn more or attend one of our weekly General Body Meetings. This experience is one of the most memorable and enjoyable opportunities provided by the IAA, and I hope that you are able to take advantage of it.
Trips
All conferences take place Thursday through Sunday. If you are attending a conference, you will miss classes on both Thursday and Friday. We can provide excuse letters to give to your professors.
