On February 10, COE took a trip to the Franklin Learning Center in a series of high school visits throughout the semester to educate young high schoolers in Philadelphia about international affairs. On this particular trip, two guest presenters, freshman Tina Gao and junior Eyob Sisay, accompanied COE and taught the students about economics in MENA. The group also engaged students in an interactive discussion about oil, OPEC, and the significance of these two factors in the region’s politics and dynamics. The high schoolers also delved deeper into the topic of oil, discussing its role in America’s foreign policy. The final topic approached game theory, and how it applied to collective economic action. In sum, the presentations were well received by the high schoolers, as COE concluded another successful session with the Franklin Learning Center.
