About the IAA (PDF)
Executive Board

Forty-six years ago, the International Affairs Association (IAA) of the University of Pennsylvania was born. Hosting the inaugural University of Pennsylvania Model United Nations Conference (UPMUNC), the club rose to prominence through its simulation of the United Nations. Having also been the host of the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference (ILMUNC) for 25 years, the IAA and its nearly 400 members have had a long tradition of excellence in Model UN and international affairs.

While working behind the scenes to produce one of the world’s most extensive Model UN programs, our members are also actively present in the array of special events we have. We host some of the best parties on campus, as well as activities like Assassins, Mafia, paintballing, and the occasional trip. Our ritzy formal is always a night to remember.

This year, we plan to step up our academic events by having a regular Speaker series throughout the school year. We are forming a coalition with four other clubs at Penn to plan and host a Human Rights Week on campus in February. In addition, we aim to actively engage our widespread alumni in communication and semi-annual events, and we hope to set up a mentorship program for our current members.

Despite being such a large club, we are a tight-knit group, and we are committed to the goal of promoting international affairs at Penn and beyond. While Model UN is at the core of what we do, the reach of our club is limitless; thanks to the amazingly gifted and personable members we are lucky to have.

If you have any questions about the IAA, please don’t hesitate to contact any member of the Executive Board. We are eager to hear from you about any issue you feel that we should consider. We are here because we love this club. We are committed to making sure that you love it too.

Sincerely,
